The most common questions about TradeLog

Getting started

  1. Press Start free at the top of the page and create your account: in one click with Google, or with an email and password.
  2. Add your account: upload an MT4/MT5 report or create the account manually.
  3. If you uploaded a report, your dashboard fills up right away. If you created it manually, add your first trade.
  4. Finish the steps in the Getting started list on your dashboard: playbook, prop rules, journal.

How to export an MT5 report

  1. Open MetaTrader 5 on your computer.
  2. Open the Toolbox: Ctrl+T.
  3. Go to the History tab, right-click the list and pick a date range.
  4. Right-click again, choose Report, then HTML or Open XML (Excel), and save it.
  5. In TradeLog, choose Add trade → Upload an MT4/MT5 report and pick the file.

How to export an MT4 report

  1. Open MetaTrader 4 on your computer.
  2. Open the Terminal: Ctrl+T.
  3. In the Account History tab, right-click and pick the period (for example All History).
  4. Right-click again, choose Save as Detailed Report and save the .htm file.
  5. Upload the file in TradeLog.

Reports on a phone

The MT4 and MT5 phone apps can't export reports. Export the report on your computer; you can send the file to your phone and pick it in TradeLog there.

What if I upload the same report again?

Nothing breaks. Trades already added are skipped and only new ones are added. Trades you entered manually are matched with the same trade in the report: your notes, setup and mistakes are kept and the numbers are updated from the report.

Weekly recap

Reports → Weekly recap shows the week's net result, each day, and your best and worst trade compared with last week. Below are 1-3 suggestions drawn from the setups and mistakes on your trades, plus a note of the week.

Use Copy recap to send it to your mentor as text. A short version of this week also appears on your dashboard.

Share links

Press Share on a trade or in Reports → Weekly recap. Choose whether your notes, money amount and screenshots are shown, add your name if you like, and press Create link; the link is copied for you. See and turn off your links in Settings → My share links.

Connecting your MT4/MT5 account (Pro)

When adding an account press Connect automatically, or press Connect account in the account editor. Pick MT5 or MT4 and enter the server name, your account number and your investor (read-only) password. The connection is ready within a few minutes and closed trades, deposits and withdrawals from the last 90 days arrive. After that, new trades arrive on their own every weekday night after the market closes (even with the app closed); during the day you can press Sync now up to 3 times per account. MetaTrader doesn't need to be open. If you don't know your investor password, check your broker's email or set a new one in MetaTrader under Tools → Options → Server → Change. You can remove the connection any time from the account editor.

TradeLog AI (Pro)

Press TradeLog AI in the side menu (in the More menu on phones) or Ask TradeLog AI on the Dashboard. The panel opens at the side, so you can keep looking at your page while you chat. It starts with suggestions drawn from your own numbers. Pick a ready question or write your own, like “What's my most expensive mistake?” or “Which of my setups works?”. TradeLog AI answers with numbers from the trades, setups, mistakes and journal in your current account view. It doesn't give buy/sell signals and isn't investment advice. There is a daily question limit; the chat is stored only on your device.

Mentor access

In Settings → Mentor access, type your mentor's email and press Invite. Send them the message by WhatsApp or email. Once they open the link and sign in with that email, they can see your account read-only: trades, notes, reports and screenshots. They can't change anything. You can remove access from the same place any time.

What is R?

R is a multiple of the amount you risked on a trade. A stop-out is −1R; winning twice your risk is +2R. This lets you compare trades across different lot and account sizes on one scale.

If the report has a stop loss, R is calculated automatically. If not, it is estimated from the account's risk percentage and shown with a ≈ sign.

Account and sign-in

Sign in with your Google account or with an email and password. Once you sign in on a device you stay signed in there until you sign out; you don't have to sign in every time. The same account shows the same data on your phone and computer.

Forgot your password? Press Forgot password? on the sign-in screen and we'll email you a reset link. If you signed up with Google, you can also set a password from Settings → Profile.

If you used TradeLog without an account before, the data on that device moves to your account the first time you sign in. If both the device and your account have data, you are asked whether to merge them. To sign out or delete your account, go to Settings → Profile.

Moving from Telegram to the web

The Telegram version will be phased out. To move your data, open Settings → Data → Download backup in Telegram and copy the text. Then sign in on the web and bring it in with Settings → Data → Restore by pasting text.

Backups

Your data is stored in your account on the server and is the same on every device you sign in on. We also recommend keeping your own copy: use Settings → Data → Download backup to get everything in one file, and Restore from backup file to bring it back if needed. Downloading a backup once a month is a good habit.

Still stuck?

In the app, go to Settings → Help and support → Contact support, or use the form on the Contact page. If you saw a support code while connecting an account (e.g. TL-103), include it in your message.
